Jenny Prendergast
Partner/ Solicitor
Jenny Prendergast started working in McInerney Solicitors in 1993. She attended NUIG where she studied English and Law, and then attended the University of London, where she obtained a Masters in Law, before qualifying as a Solicitor in Ireland.
Jenny is an experienced Practitioner of Family Law, dealing with all issues arising from relationship or marriage breakdown, such as Maintenance, Access, Separation Agreements, Divorce, Financial Orders, and Protective Court Orders relating to Domestic Violence. She attends District, Circuit and High Courts. She also provides advice on rights and obligations of Spouses, Parents, Children, and Cohabitees.
Jenny also advises and represents clients in various types of Litigation, and has successfully brought a number of Medical and Professional Negligence cases, as well as Probate Litigation, and Personal Injury cases.
Jenny also has an interest and professional background in conveyancing and property law issues.
Colin Lynch
Partner/ Solicitor
Colin is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor. He commenced practice in 1999 and has represented clients at all court levels from District through to High Court. Colin has a wide range of interests and in particular enjoys the areas of Immigration and Crime. Colin has successfully challenged various Ministerial decisions in the High Court by way of Judicial Review.
Colin practiced as a Barrister for many years, both in Dublin and in the West of Ireland, before retraining and setting up Colin Lynch Solicitors.
Colin advises persons in custody and attends Garda Stations and Prisons where required. Colin has a keen interest in Human Rights and promoting access to justice. He is a volunteer lawyer to Galway’s Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC).
Shane Sheridan
Associate Solicitor
Shane Sheridan is a Galway native and attended the National University of Ireland, Galway where he obtained a B.A. and LL.B. He has been an employee of McInerney Solicitors for over ten years. He has a special interest in all aspects of Personal Injuries Litigation (Road Traffic incidents, Workplace accidents, Public Liability accidents) in the High Court and Circuit Court, as well as other contentious Court and Tribunal matters (Employment matters, Debt Collection, Consumer Law).
Shane has expertise in all areas of Child Protection Law in both the District Court and Circuit Court.
Shane also has long standing roots with Galway Harbour which has led to him developing the practice area of Maritime Law at the firm. He is also interested on both a professional and personal level in the ongoing development of Maritime Facilities in Galway City and nationwide.
Ciara O’ Callaghan B.C.L. LL.M.
Associate Solicitor
Registered Trusts and Estates Practitioner
Ciara is a native of Athlone, and has been living in Galway since 2006.
She has a special interest and expertise in wills and the administration of estates, and is a registered trusts and estates practitioner (STEP). She heads up the Property and Wills and Probate Department.
Ciara also provides specialist advice in Employment Law, and has acted for Employers and Employees in various forums as well as advisory work for Trade Unions.
Ciara holds a BCL from UCD, and LL.M. from NUIG, a Diploma in Trusts, a Diploma in Employment Law, and a Diploma in Property Tax from the Law Society of Ireland.
Prior to joining McInerney Solicitors Ciara worked for O’ Connor Solicitors in Dublin, and Higgins Chambers Flanagan Solicitors in Headford. She is a tutor at the Law Society of Ireland and at NUIG in Property Law and Probate and Wills matters, and Employment Law.
